The Professional Contest is a Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) sanctioned professional contest and Georgia State Championship Barbeque Cookoff. Cook teams must compete in the four KCBS meat categories: chicken, pork ribs, pork and beef brisket. One Grand Champion - $2,000 cash + prize One Grand Reserve Champion - $1,500 cash + prize 1st Place in each category - $400 cash + prize 2nd Place in each category - $300 cash + prize 3rd Place in each category - $200 cash + prize 4th Place in each category - $100 cash + prize 5th Place in each category - $50 cash + prize *An additional bonus check will be awarded to the 1st Place ($500), 2nd Place ($250) and 3rd Place ($100) finishers in the Pork Ribs category who are participating in the 2013 Smithfield® Rib Super Series. Backyard BBQ Contest The Backyard BBQ Contest is an amateur cook-off for individuals or teams, families, corporate teams or whoever – strictly for fun and BBQ braggin’ rights. Cook teams must compete in three meat categories: chicken, pork ribs and pork. One Grand Prize - $500 cash + prize 1st Place in each category - $200 cash + prize 2nd Place in each category - $150 cash + prize 3rd Place in each category - $100 cash + prize Anything Butt Contest This is your chance to show off your cooking creativity. Contest organizers will provide each cook team with one meat item (will be revealed no later than August 1). Cook teams may add any ingredient(s) to create the most delicious of dishes, such as a stew, soup, main course or side dish. KCBS garnish and sauce rules do not apply. 1st Place - $300 cash + prize 2nd Place - $200 cash + prize 3rd Place - $100 cash + prize Peach Dessert Contest Creativity is in order for this contest. Simply put, each cook team's recipe must include peaches. Backyard Contest & Peach Dessert Contest Cook Teams Information KCBS Rules and Regulations Each contest is limited to a maximum number of cook teams. Contest Entry Deadline The deadline to enter any contest without incurring a late fee is July 31. Refunds All fees are non-refundable after July 31. Judges Information
All eligible judges from 2012 will be offered right of first refusal to return in 2013. At this time, we are not accepting judging applications. The Smithfield® Packing Company and KCBS are inviting cook teams at the City of Kennesaw's Pigs & Peaches BBQ Festival to participate in the 2013 Smithfield® Rib Super Series -- a points chase competition across 12 KCBS sanctioned events with bonus money payouts for the top three finishers at each competition event and the top three finishers overall. After registering, participating teams will receive two complimentary racks of Smithfield Spareribs to experiment with or use during the competition. Teams who wish to participate in the points chase will receive points based upon their finishing position at their best four events of the series. The three qualifying teams with the highest point total overall will win bonus Grand prize money.
